The Opportunity:

As an SEN Tutor, you will provide targeted support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role allows you to make a meaningful impact through flexible, trauma-informed tutoring that addresses both academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver in-person, online, and hybrid Maths, English, or Science tuition to students with SEND and SEMH needs
  • Plan and deliver trauma-informed, flexible lessons tailored to individual learning styles and requirements
  • Provide regular feedback and detailed lesson reports to track student progress
  • Support students from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 5, as appropriate for your expertise
  • Collaborate with local authorities and schools to ensure consistent and effective support
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes emotional well-being
  • Engage in continuous professional development and mentorship opportunities
  • Maintain communication with the SEND Support Team to ensure consistent student support

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • 2+ years of teaching experience, preferably with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or PMLD students
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS)
  • Experience in trauma-informed teaching and safeguarding
  • Familiarity with teaching core subjects: Maths, English, or Science
  • Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain it
  • 2+ professional references

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with a range of additional educational needs
  • Knowledge of educational psychology or therapeutic support methods
  • Experience with remote or hybrid teaching environments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in mentoring or supporting vulnerable learners
