The Opportunity:

As an ESOL Tutor, you will provide essential support to vulnerable young people across the UK through in-person, online, or hybrid teaching. Your role will be pivotal in helping learners with SEMH and SEND needs achieve their potential through trauma-informed, flexible, and personalized tutoring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver in-person, online, and hybrid ESOL tuition to students with SEMH and SEND needs, including MLD, SLD, and PMLD
  • Plan and deliver trauma-informed, flexible lessons tailored to the needs of individual learners
  • Provide regular feedback and progress reports to ensure continuous improvement and support
  • Collaborate with local authorities and schools to meet the academic and emotional needs of learners
  • Support students across KS1 to KS5, adapting teaching methods to suit their abilities and requirements
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes emotional well-being and academic success
  • Engage in continuous professional development and mentorship opportunities
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing and community events to enhance teaching practices

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • 2+ years of teaching experience, preferably with vulnerable non-English speaking students
  • Professional teaching qualifications (e.g., CELTA, TEFL, TESOL)
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and creating a safe learning environment
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
  • 2+ professional references
  • Right to work in the UK (even for remote roles)

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with SEMH and SEND needs
  • Experience in SENDCo, SLD/MLD teaching, or autism support
  • Background in therapeutic or learning support roles (e.g., Educational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist)
  • Flexibility to work in-person, online, or hybrid
  • Commitment to child-centered, trauma-informed teaching
