The Opportunity:

As a Core Subject Teacher, you will provide essential academic support to young people with SEND and SEMH needs. This role allows you to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable learners while enjoying flexibility and a supportive working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, trauma-informed Maths, English, or Science tuition to students with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and PMLD
  • Plan and deliver flexible, individualised lessons that meet the unique needs of each student
  • Provide regular feedback and complete detailed lesson reports on student progress
  • Collaborate with a dedicated SEND Support Team to ensure consistent and effective support for learners
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment aligned with safeguarding standards
  • Engage in continuous professional development and mentorship opportunities
  • Participate in tutor community events and knowledge-sharing initiatives
  • Support students referred by local authorities and schools through tailored mentoring

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • 2+ years of teaching experience, preferably working with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or PMLD
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS)
  • Experience teaching English, Maths, and/or Science
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain it)
  • 2+ professional references

Preferred

  • Experience with trauma-informed teaching practices
  • Background in SENDCo, LSA, TA, Educational Therapist, or similar roles
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and creating safe learning environments
  • Experience with online or hybrid teaching methods
