The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Cover SEN Teacher (Autism) to join our dedicated team. This role offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of children with autism through personalized and high-quality teaching. The ideal candidate will be committed to supporting pupils with complex needs across all phases of education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored and personalised learning programmes for children with autism and complex needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure consistent and effective support for students.
  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans that align with each student’s EHCP and educational goals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and interventions.
  • Provide a positive role model and foster strong, respectful relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to the school’s CPD programme.
  • Support students in developing communication, social, and life skills through a child-centred curriculum.
  • Work across all phases of education, from EYFS to KS4, with some specialist teaching in Y10–13.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in special education or autism settings.
  • Experience in delivering personalised learning for children with autism and complex needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support multi-disciplinary approaches.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.

Preferred

  • Experience in Early Years or Primary settings.
  • Experience with students who have an EHCP and are working significantly below age-related expectations.
  • Experience with ECTs or those new to SEN/autism settings.
  • Familiarity with specialist teaching models in Y10–13.
