The Opportunity:

As a Laboratory Technician, you will support the Science Department in maintaining a safe, efficient, and inspiring learning environment. Your role will be vital in ensuring that students gain hands-on experience with scientific equipment and processes, while upholding the highest standards of health and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies to ensure smooth operation of science classes.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of practical science lessons across all key stages.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory health and safety protocols, including CLEAPSS guidelines.
  • Assist in the supervision and safeguarding of students during science activities.
  • Collaborate with science teachers to develop and implement practical experiments and resources.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, stock levels, and safety inspections.
  • Provide guidance and support to students on laboratory procedures and safety practices.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of science teaching and learning through reflective practice and professional development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant science background and previous experience working in a laboratory setting.
  • Familiarity with handling chemicals and scientific equipment.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures, including CLEAPSS.
  • Commitment to the safeguarding and protection of children and young people.
  • Ability to work flexibly within a busy and dynamic school environment.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school or educational setting.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
