The Opportunity:
A Laboratory Technician is needed to support the Science Department and ensure the smooth running of laboratory operations. This role requires flexibility, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to health and safety. The successful candidate will contribute to a dynamic and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies to ensure they are in good working order
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of science lessons and experiments
- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with health and safety regulations, including CLEAPSS guidelines
- Support the safe handling and storage of chemicals and scientific materials
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement practical science activities
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory usage and inventory
- Provide a safe and stimulating environment for students to conduct experiments
- Support the school’s ethos by promoting creativity and reflective thinking in science education
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant science background with experience in a laboratory setting
- Familiarity with handling chemicals and scientific equipment
- Good understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures
- Commitment to the safeguarding of children and young people
- Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a positive working environment
Preferred
- Experience in education or a related field
- Previous experience in a school laboratory setting
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Experience with curriculum development and practical science teaching
