The Opportunity:

A Laboratory Technician is needed to support the Science Department and ensure the smooth running of laboratory operations. This role requires flexibility, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to health and safety. The successful candidate will contribute to a dynamic and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies to ensure they are in good working order
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of science lessons and experiments
  • Ensure all laboratory activities comply with health and safety regulations, including CLEAPSS guidelines
  • Support the safe handling and storage of chemicals and scientific materials
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement practical science activities
  • Maintain accurate records of laboratory usage and inventory
  • Provide a safe and stimulating environment for students to conduct experiments
  • Support the school’s ethos by promoting creativity and reflective thinking in science education

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant science background with experience in a laboratory setting
  • Familiarity with handling chemicals and scientific equipment
  • Good understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures
  • Commitment to the safeguarding of children and young people
  • Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a positive working environment

Preferred

  • Experience in education or a related field
  • Previous experience in a school laboratory setting
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Experience with curriculum development and practical science teaching
