The Opportunity:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in supporting both students and teaching staff during short-term absences. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people while working in a school that values inclusion, innovation, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons on behalf of class teachers during short-term absences.
  • Liaise with class teachers in advance to ensure consistency in seating plans and lesson resources.
  • Support teaching staff in the classroom to help students access learning and manage classroom activities.
  • Assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs.
  • Provide general support to teachers in managing student behavior and classroom organization.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a smooth and effective teaching experience.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with the teaching team.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan and deliver structured lessons independently.
  • Commitment to inclusion and supporting students with a range of learning needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and supportive school environment.

Preferred

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Previous experience in a school setting, particularly in a SEND environment.
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and differentiated instruction.
  • Experience with curriculum planning and delivery.
  • Familiarity with educational software and tools.
