The Opportunity:

As a Curriculum Leader Art, you will play a key role in shaping the creative direction of the Art department. You will inspire students through a wide range of artistic mediums and lead a team that values creativity, reflection, and critical thinking. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate educator.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Art curriculum to ensure high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
  • Inspire and motivate students to explore and express themselves through a variety of artistic mediums.
  • Support and mentor Art teachers to maintain and enhance the department’s standards and ethos.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate cross-curricular themes and opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback to improve outcomes.
  • Promote a creative and inclusive environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
  • Organise and lead extracurricular activities, including art clubs and exhibitions.
  • Ensure the department aligns with the school’s vision and values, including The Buckingham Way.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching Art at all key stages.
  • Experience in a leadership or senior teaching role, ideally as a Curriculum Leader.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development and assessment strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the school’s values, including respect, responsibility, and kindness.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching Photography.
  • Experience with nationally recognised qualifications or professional development programs.
  • Experience working in a school with a strong emphasis on pastoral care and inclusion.
