The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a Curriculum Team Leader Languages to lead and inspire a team of specialist teachers in French, German, or Spanish. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving academic excellence and student achievement in languages at A Level and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of specialist language teachers, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
  • Develop and implement a robust curriculum that aligns with the school’s academic standards and student outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support to raise achievement and attainment.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to shape school-wide strategies and initiatives in language education.
  • Deliver professional development opportunities for staff to enhance teaching practice and subject knowledge.
  • Represent the school in external networks and events to promote the language department’s achievements.
  • Ensure the department meets all statutory and regulatory requirements, including safeguarding and Ofsted standards.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive culture within the department that encourages collaboration and innovation.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with specialist subject knowledge in French, German, or Spanish.
  • Proven experience teaching to A Level with a track record of raising student achievement.
  • Demonstrable middle leadership experience within a school setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build effective relationships with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and departmental leadership.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technologies.
  • Experience in leading and mentoring other teachers.
  • Knowledge of current trends and developments in language education.
