The Opportunity:

As a Deaf Provision Leader, you will lead and shape the provision for deaf pupils, working closely with colleagues, families, and external partners to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. This role is essential in ensuring that every child, regardless of hearing ability, can thrive and succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the deaf provision, ensuring it meets the needs of all pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to deliver high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support deaf pupils in the classroom and across the school.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on deaf awareness and inclusive practices.
  • Liaise with parents and carers to ensure consistent support for deaf pupils.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the deaf provision and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Promote the use of British Sign Language (BSL) as a shared communication tool across the school.
  • Support the school’s mission to create an inclusive environment where all pupils can flourish.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in leading provision for deaf pupils.
  • Strong knowledge of deaf education and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external partners.

Preferred

  • Experience with British Sign Language (BSL) and its integration into the classroom.
  • Experience in school leadership or management roles.
  • Familiarity with the latest educational research and best practices in deaf education.
  • Experience in developing and delivering staff training on deaf awareness and inclusion.
