The Opportunity:

As Director of Finance and Compliance, you will shape the financial strategy and compliance frameworks that support the school’s growth and sustainability. This strategic role will work closely with senior leadership to ensure robust financial and compliance practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies that support the long-term sustainability and growth of the school.
  • Oversee and strengthen compliance frameworks to ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
  • Provide expert financial and compliance advice to the CEO, Board, and Committees to support informed decision-making.
  • Monitor and manage risk across the organization, ensuring proactive identification and mitigation of potential threats.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to align financial planning with the school’s strategic objectives.
  • Ensure transparency and accountability in all financial reporting and compliance processes.
  • Support the development of policies and procedures that promote financial integrity and compliance.
  • Work with external auditors and regulatory bodies to maintain compliance and build trust.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in senior finance or compliance roles within education or a related sector.
  • Strong understanding of financial planning, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic financial and compliance leadership at an organizational level.
  • Experience working with senior leadership teams and governing bodies.
  • In-depth knowledge of compliance regulations and legal requirements relevant to education.

Preferred

  • Experience in the alternative provision or multi-academy trust sector.
  • Background in financial management within a large or complex organization.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence and inspire others.
  • Experience with financial systems and software commonly used in education.
