The Opportunity:

As a Debater in Residence, you will play a key role in developing and managing a dynamic debating programme that enhances students’ critical thinking, public speaking, and leadership skills. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality debating sessions that challenge and inspire students.
  • Support the Debating Coordinators in managing and promoting the debating programme.
  • Foster a culture of critical thinking, research, and public speaking among students.
  • Collaborate with staff to integrate debating skills across the curriculum.
  • Mentor and coach students to improve their debating abilities and confidence.
  • Promote the debating programme through events, competitions, and outreach activities.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to enhance individual and team performance.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative and engaging debating resources.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in debating or public speaking.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to student development and academic excellence.
  • Experience in working with young people in an educational setting.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or coaching within a school environment.
  • Knowledge of debating formats and techniques.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and educational innovation.
  • Experience with extracurricular programme management.
