The Opportunity:
The school is seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Music to lead its dynamic department and continue its tradition of excellence. This role offers the opportunity to shape music education and inspire students at a high-performing institution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the music curriculum, including the EDUQAS A level specification.
- Deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences to students.
- Manage and enhance the performance and production calendar, including major theatrical and musical events.
- Collaborate with other departments to promote music across the institution and engage with local schools.
- Support the growth of A level numbers and expand the school’s music outreach.
- Foster a culture of excellence, creativity, and inclusion within the music department.
- Work closely with the Principal and senior leadership team to align departmental goals with the school’s mission.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding and equal opportunities policies.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in post-16 music education.
- Proven leadership experience in a music department.
- Strong knowledge of the EDUQAS A level specification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to Catholic values and ethos.
Preferred
- Experience in directing large-scale productions or concerts.
- Experience in working with sixth form students and in the post-16 sector.
- Familiarity with music technology and digital resources.
- Experience in curriculum development and innovation in music education.
