The Opportunity:
As a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students. This position requires a dedicated professional who is passionate about safeguarding and committed to working collaboratively with families and partner agencies to support vulnerable children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advocate for vulnerable children and ensure their needs are met through effective collaboration with families and partner agencies
- Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead to implement and monitor safeguarding policies and procedures
- Provide support and guidance to staff on safeguarding matters and conduct training where necessary
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all safeguarding concerns and interventions
- Attend relevant meetings, including child protection conferences and strategy discussions
- Support the development of a safe and secure environment for all students
- Promote a culture of safeguarding across the school community
- Ensure that all safeguarding incidents are reported and followed up in accordance with statutory requirements
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in safeguarding and child protection
- Experience of working with vulnerable children and families
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external agencies
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Experience in a school or education setting
Preferred
- Experience in a leadership or deputy role within safeguarding
- Knowledge of child protection legislation and statutory requirements
- Experience in training and supporting staff on safeguarding issues
- Experience with multi-agency working and partnership development
