The Opportunity:

As a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students. This position requires a dedicated professional who is passionate about safeguarding and committed to working collaboratively with families and partner agencies to support vulnerable children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advocate for vulnerable children and ensure their needs are met through effective collaboration with families and partner agencies
  • Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead to implement and monitor safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Provide support and guidance to staff on safeguarding matters and conduct training where necessary
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all safeguarding concerns and interventions
  • Attend relevant meetings, including child protection conferences and strategy discussions
  • Support the development of a safe and secure environment for all students
  • Promote a culture of safeguarding across the school community
  • Ensure that all safeguarding incidents are reported and followed up in accordance with statutory requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in safeguarding and child protection
  • Experience of working with vulnerable children and families
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external agencies
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Experience in a school or education setting

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership or deputy role within safeguarding
  • Knowledge of child protection legislation and statutory requirements
  • Experience in training and supporting staff on safeguarding issues
  • Experience with multi-agency working and partnership development
