The Opportunity:

As a Deputy Grounds Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the high standards of a school's extensive sports grounds. This role includes deputising for the Grounds Manager and ensuring the safe and efficient management of all grounds-related tasks. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to the upkeep of world-class facilities that support a vibrant sporting culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain a variety of sports grounds, including cricket squares, football pitches, athletics tracks, and Astro-turfs.
  • Deputise for the Grounds Manager during their absence, taking full responsibility for all grounds operations.
  • Coordinate and supervise the delivery of planned and reactive grounds maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure all grounds are kept in safe and optimal condition for use by students and staff.
  • Collaborate with other members of the grounds team to maintain high standards of service.
  • Monitor and report on the condition of sports facilities and equipment.
  • Implement best practices in grounds management to ensure sustainability and efficiency.
  • Support the delivery of sporting events and activities across the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in grounds management or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of sports grounds maintenance and operations.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational institution setting.
  • Familiarity with artificial turf and cricket pitch maintenance.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of sustainable grounds management practices.
  • Understanding of the importance of sport in education.
