The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of Theology and Philosophy to join a dynamic and collaborative department. This role offers the opportunity to inspire students and contribute to a curriculum that encourages deep thinking and independent inquiry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality lessons in Theology and Philosophy across Key Stages 3, 4, and 6.
- Foster critical thinking and independent learning in students through engaging and challenging content.
- Prepare and assess students for IGCSE and A Level qualifications, including AQA and OCR specifications.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share resources, expertise, and best practices.
- Support the development of students’ religious and philosophical literacy and ethical understanding.
- Participate in departmental and school-wide initiatives, including extra-curricular activities and pastoral care.
- Stay up to date with developments in Theology and Philosophy education and incorporate innovative teaching methods.
- Provide pastoral support and mentorship to students where appropriate.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher or graduate with the potential to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Strong academic background in Theology and/or Philosophy.
- Demonstrable experience in teaching or a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to fostering intellectual curiosity and critical thinking in students.
Preferred
- Experience teaching Theology and Philosophy at Key Stages 3, 4, and 6.
- Familiarity with IGCSE and A Level specifications (AQA and OCR).
- Experience with the critical realist approach to religion and philosophy.
- Experience in pastoral care and student mentorship.
- Proficiency in using digital tools and resources for teaching and learning.
