The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of Theology and Philosophy to join a dynamic and collaborative department. This role offers the opportunity to inspire students and contribute to a curriculum that encourages deep thinking and independent inquiry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality lessons in Theology and Philosophy across Key Stages 3, 4, and 6.
  • Foster critical thinking and independent learning in students through engaging and challenging content.
  • Prepare and assess students for IGCSE and A Level qualifications, including AQA and OCR specifications.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share resources, expertise, and best practices.
  • Support the development of students’ religious and philosophical literacy and ethical understanding.
  • Participate in departmental and school-wide initiatives, including extra-curricular activities and pastoral care.
  • Stay up to date with developments in Theology and Philosophy education and incorporate innovative teaching methods.
  • Provide pastoral support and mentorship to students where appropriate.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher or graduate with the potential to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Strong academic background in Theology and/or Philosophy.
  • Demonstrable experience in teaching or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to fostering intellectual curiosity and critical thinking in students.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching Theology and Philosophy at Key Stages 3, 4, and 6.
  • Familiarity with IGCSE and A Level specifications (AQA and OCR).
  • Experience with the critical realist approach to religion and philosophy.
  • Experience in pastoral care and student mentorship.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and resources for teaching and learning.
