The Opportunity:
As the Deputy Head Academic, you will play a pivotal role in driving academic excellence and ensuring the smooth operation of the school. You will lead and support the Heads of Departments in delivering a high-quality curriculum and maintaining the highest standards of teaching and learning across all year groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the academic curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of all students and aligns with current educational standards.
- Support and collaborate with Heads of Departments to develop and implement effective teaching and learning strategies.
- Ensure the efficient operation of academic departments and the smooth running of the school on a daily basis.
- Lead and manage change initiatives, contributing to the strategic development of the school.
- Promote a nurturing and inclusive school environment that supports the well-being and academic success of all students.
- Chair meetings and communicate effectively with staff, parents, and students.
- Develop and implement policies related to safeguarding, health, and student welfare.
- Monitor and evaluate academic performance, providing guidance and support to staff to maintain high standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong academic background with knowledge of curriculum development, teaching, and learning strategies.
- Proven experience in educational management and leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and lead change at a strategic level.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Experience in safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Preferred
- Experience in a senior leadership role within a school setting.
- Background in leading and managing academic departments.
- Experience with curriculum innovation and assessment strategies.
- Strong leadership and collaborative skills with a positive and approachable style.
