The Opportunity:

As the Deputy Head Academic, you will play a pivotal role in driving academic excellence and ensuring the smooth operation of the school. You will lead and support the Heads of Departments in delivering a high-quality curriculum and maintaining the highest standards of teaching and learning across all year groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the academic curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of all students and aligns with current educational standards.
  • Support and collaborate with Heads of Departments to develop and implement effective teaching and learning strategies.
  • Ensure the efficient operation of academic departments and the smooth running of the school on a daily basis.
  • Lead and manage change initiatives, contributing to the strategic development of the school.
  • Promote a nurturing and inclusive school environment that supports the well-being and academic success of all students.
  • Chair meetings and communicate effectively with staff, parents, and students.
  • Develop and implement policies related to safeguarding, health, and student welfare.
  • Monitor and evaluate academic performance, providing guidance and support to staff to maintain high standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong academic background with knowledge of curriculum development, teaching, and learning strategies.
  • Proven experience in educational management and leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead change at a strategic level.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Experience in safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a school setting.
  • Background in leading and managing academic departments.
  • Experience with curriculum innovation and assessment strategies.
