The Opportunity:
As the Deputy Head of Academics, you will play a vital role in shaping the academic direction of the school and supporting the achievement and wellbeing of all students. This is a leadership position that offers the opportunity to influence policy, manage a senior team, and drive continuous improvement across the academic department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the development of academic policies and practices across the school.
- Manage a team of key academic staff, including Heads of Department, the Exams and Data Manager, and the SENDCo.
- Oversee the implementation of strategies that enhance teaching, learning, and student outcomes.
- Work closely with the Head to ensure alignment with school priorities and strategic goals.
- Promote and uphold the school’s mission, values, and commitment to safeguarding.
- Support staff development through training, mentorship, and professional growth opportunities.
- Ensure high standards of teaching, assessment, and classroom management across the school.
- Monitor and evaluate academic performance to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in an educational setting.
- Strong academic background and teaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team of senior staff.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
- Experience in curriculum development and academic strategy.
Preferred
- Experience in a senior leadership role within a school.
- Familiarity with exam systems and data management.
- Experience with special educational needs and inclusion strategies.
- Strong understanding of Catholic Christian values and ethos.
- Experience in leading professional development and staff training.
