The Opportunity:
As the Deputy Head of Pastoral, you will play a central role in shaping a positive, secure, and nurturing environment for pupils. You will lead the pastoral team, manage safeguarding responsibilities, and contribute to the strategic direction of the school. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the pastoral team to ensure a supportive and inclusive environment for all pupils.
- Act as the whole-school Designated Safeguarding Lead, overseeing safeguarding policies, staff training, and team management.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve pastoral care and student wellbeing across the school.
- Collaborate with the senior leadership team to shape school policies and practices.
- Support staff development and provide guidance to ensure high standards of pastoral care.
- Promote the school's ethos and values throughout the pastoral system.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding regulations and maintain high standards of practice.
- Work closely with the Headmistress to advance the strategic goals of the school.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a pastoral or educational setting.
- Experience in safeguarding and child protection, including knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to inspire and support staff.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop teams effectively.
- Commitment to the school’s mission, values, and pastoral care priorities.
Preferred
- Experience in a senior management or leadership role within education.
- Experience with school policy development and implementation.
- Familiarity with Catholic Christian ethos and values.
- Experience in managing a large pastoral team or leading safeguarding initiatives.
