The Opportunity:

As Deputy Head of Secondary, you will play a pivotal role in driving academic excellence and leadership across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. This is a strategic role focused on raising standards, shaping curriculum, and ensuring outstanding student outcomes in a dynamic, high-performing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Secondary Academic Improvement Plan.
  • Oversee curriculum design, pathway modelling, and ensure coherence across academic and vocational routes.
  • Maintain robust quality assurance systems and ensure compliance with KHDA, BSO, IB, and awarding body requirements.
  • Use assessment data strategically to drive improvement and secure outstanding examination results.
  • Support and develop Heads of Faculty and programme leaders through coaching and mentoring.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across the Secondary department.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including staff, parents, and students.
  • Ensure strong student progression to leading global universities and post-16 destinations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in education with PGCE or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of senior leadership experience in teaching, learning, and curriculum.
  • Experience in a large Secondary school or multi-form entry environment.
  • Proven ability to use data strategically to raise standards and improve outcomes.
  • Experience in an international or high-performing school setting.
  • Commitment to delivering the school’s educational vision and working collaboratively with leadership teams.

Preferred

  • Tertiary qualifications such as NPQSL.
  • Experience in leading academic improvement initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring staff.
  • Creative and innovative approach to education and leadership.
