The Opportunity:

As Deputy Head of Student Services, you will play a key role in supporting student wellbeing and inclusion. This strategic position involves safeguarding, pastoral care, and family liaison, with a strong focus on empowering students with diverse needs to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, attendance, and welfare standards.
  • Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for a designated cohort.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families and external agencies.
  • Champion student voice, inclusion, and positive behaviour support.
  • Contribute to the school’s leadership and continuous improvement agenda.
  • Support student self-advocacy, especially for non-verbal and neurodivergent learners.
  • Drive inclusive classroom practices and equitable staffing.
  • Promote the school’s “Inclusion and Belonging” culture.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a pastoral, SEND, or multi-agency role.
  • Understanding of supporting children and young people with complex needs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
  • Creativity, emotional intelligence, and resilience.

Preferred

  • Qualification in the education of children with SEN.
  • Recent experience working with students with special educational needs.
  • Experience working with ASC students.
