Head of Student Services needed at a school dedicated to supporting students with complex needs.

About the School:

A school dedicated to providing education and support for students aged 3-19 with physical and/or intellectual disabilities, including those with profound and complex learning needs.

The Opportunity:

As Head of Student Services, you will lead and inspire a team committed to supporting students with diverse needs, including those with autism, PMLD, and neurodivergence. This role is pivotal in ensuring every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, attendance, and welfare standards.
• Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for a designated cohort.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with families and advocate for student needs.
• Promote pupil voice, inclusion, and positive behaviour support.
• Contribute strategically to the school’s leadership and improvement agenda.
• Liaise with parents, external agencies, and the local authority.
• Support student self-advocacy, including for non-verbal and neurodivergent learners.
• Drive inclusive classroom practices and equitable staffing.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Significant experience in a pastoral, SEND or multi-agency leadership role.
• Understanding of the complexities of supporting children and young people with physical disabilities and complex needs.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
• Unwavering commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
• Creativity, emotional intelligence, and resilience.

Preferred

• Qualification in the education of children with SEN.
• Recent experience of working with and/or teaching pupils with special educational needs.
• Experience of working with ASC students.
