The Opportunity:
The Deputy Headteacher - Pastoral will play a vital role in shaping the school’s improvement priorities and ensuring the best outcomes for students. This is an opportunity for an experienced leader to drive strategic development in pastoral provision, including behaviour, attendance, safeguarding, and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the pastoral provision across the school, ensuring high standards in behaviour, attendance, and safeguarding.
- Work closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership team to develop and implement school improvement strategies.
- Provide strategic oversight of inclusion and personal development initiatives.
- Support the development of staff through high-quality professional development and training.
- Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes student well-being and academic success.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration with parents, governors, and external agencies.
- Monitor and report on key pastoral metrics, such as attendance and exclusion rates.
- Contribute to system leadership within the trust, sharing best practices and driving continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a secondary school setting.
- Strong track record in managing and improving pastoral provision, including behaviour, attendance, and safeguarding.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team of staff and students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in driving school improvement and raising student outcomes.
Preferred
- Experience in a Deputy Headteacher role or equivalent leadership position.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and best practices.
- Experience in leading inclusion initiatives and supporting vulnerable students.
- Familiarity with the Oak Learning Partnership and its values.
