The Opportunity:
As Head of Drama, you will lead a thriving department, delivering high-quality drama education across all key stages. You will inspire students through a dynamic and imaginative approach, while contributing to the school’s strong extra-curricular culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Drama department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 to 5.
- Develop and implement a dynamic extra-curricular programme, including two annual performances.
- Collaborate with other departments to create interdisciplinary theatre productions.
- Support and mentor junior staff within the department.
- Maintain and enhance the school’s strong reputation in drama and performing arts.
- Work closely with the performing arts technician to utilise the school’s modern facilities.
- Ensure the curriculum reflects the school’s ethos and values, with a focus on student development and achievement.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in drama education at Key Stages 3 to 5.
- Strong leadership and team-working skills.
- Demonstrable experience in delivering high-quality drama lessons and extra-curricular activities.
- Commitment to student wellbeing and personal development.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team.
- Background in Theatre Studies or related field.
- Experience with GCSE and A Level Theatre Studies qualifications.
- Familiarity with modern theatre and performance techniques.
