The Opportunity:

A Design and Technology Technician is needed to support the safe and effective delivery of practical lessons. This role involves maintaining and operating advanced workshop equipment such as 3D printers and laser cutters, while ensuring a well-organised and safe learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepares resources, tools, and equipment for Design & Technology lessons, including hard materials and electronic components.
• Sets up, operates, and maintains workshop machinery and new technologies such as laser cutters and 3D printers.
• Conducts regular checks and routine maintenance of all DT equipment, reporting any faults or safety concerns.
• Manages inventory of materials, tools, and consumables, ensuring supplies are available for planned lessons.
• Assists teaching staff during practical sessions, providing technical support to students and demonstrating safe use of tools.
• Maintains a clean, organised, and hazard-free workshop environment, ensuring safe storage of tools and hazardous materials.
• Supports the preparation of displays, models, and exemplar work to enhance teaching and learning.
• Provides basic IT support for DT-specific software and assists with file preparation for 3D printing and laser cutting.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of similar experience.
• Understanding of modern Design & Technology, including product design, digital tools, and materials.
• Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
• Fluent in English.

Preferred

• Experience with CAD/CAM software and 3D printing slicers.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a workshop environment.
• Experience in a school or educational setting.
