The Opportunity:
As a Design & Technology Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the school’s innovative and successful Design & Technology department. You will contribute to a dynamic, hands-on learning environment that encourages creativity, technical skill, and student engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of high-quality Design & Technology lessons across multiple specialist areas.
- Manage and maintain the school’s state-of-the-art facilities, including workshops, Food Technology rooms, and CAD/CAM suite.
- Assist in the preparation of resources, equipment, and materials for teaching and practical sessions.
- Collaborate with teachers to ensure a safe, inspiring, and well-organised learning environment.
- Monitor and support students during practical work, encouraging creativity and technical excellence.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and inventory.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the department.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in a Design & Technology or related technical role.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Commitment to student safety and well-being.
- Proficiency in using technical equipment and software used in the department.
Preferred
- Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software and 3D printing technology.
- Experience in supporting curriculum delivery in a school environment.
- Understanding of modern teaching methods and student-centered learning approaches.
