Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Computer Science department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the department aligned with the school’s academic goals
  • Support and mentor teaching staff, providing professional development and guidance
  • Oversee the planning, delivery, and assessment of Computer Science courses at A level
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring continued improvement and high achievement
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate computing into broader academic and extracurricular activities
  • Represent the department in meetings, inspections, and external events
  • Ensure the department adheres to school policies, safeguarding standards, and inclusion principles

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge and experience in A level Computer Science
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or college department
  • Strong track record in teaching and achieving excellent student outcomes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation
  • Familiarity with industry trends and technologies in computer science
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support
  • Leadership in extracurricular computing activities or clubs
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar organization
