Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Computer Science department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for the department aligned with the school’s academic goals
- Support and mentor teaching staff, providing professional development and guidance
- Oversee the planning, delivery, and assessment of Computer Science courses at A level
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring continued improvement and high achievement
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate computing into broader academic and extracurricular activities
- Represent the department in meetings, inspections, and external events
- Ensure the department adheres to school policies, safeguarding standards, and inclusion principles
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge and experience in A level Computer Science
- Proven leadership experience in a school or college department
- Strong track record in teaching and achieving excellent student outcomes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and innovation
- Familiarity with industry trends and technologies in computer science
- Experience with pastoral care and student support
- Leadership in extracurricular computing activities or clubs
- Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar organization
