The Opportunity:

The Director of Multilingual Programmes will lead the development of innovative, world-class language learning experiences within a truly multilingual and multicultural environment. This role is central to shaping the school’s academic vision and fostering fluency, cultural intelligence, and global citizenship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a whole-school multilingual strategy aligned with the Cambridge International Curriculum and the school’s academic vision.
  • Champion multilingualism as a cornerstone of global citizenship and inclusive education.
  • Lead the development of a home-language/mother tongue programme to support students in preserving their cultural and linguistic heritage.
  • Oversee the design, resourcing, and delivery of all language curriculum across the school, ensuring academic excellence and alignment with international standards.
  • Innovate in language teaching and learning, integrating technology and interdisciplinary approaches for deep, transferable language acquisition.
  • Lead and mentor a team of expert language educators, fostering a collaborative and aspirational departmental culture.
  • Monitor student progress through data-informed assessment systems, ensuring high-impact language learning pathways.
  • Promote student engagement through language clubs, international exchanges, and cultural events.
  • Ensure compliance with COBIS, BSO, and local education authorities in all aspects of language provision.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Master’s degree in Linguistics, Education, Modern Languages, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in managing language programmes in British or international schools.
  • Strong understanding of the Cambridge curriculum and international qualifications (IGCSE, A-Level).

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and implementing English as an Additional Language (EAL) programmes.
  • Demonstrated success in fostering inclusive, multilingual learning environments.
  • Experience in curriculum innovation and professional development in multilingual and EAL pedagogy.
