The Opportunity:

The Director of Music will lead the creation of a world-class music programme, shaping the school’s artistic identity and fostering a culture of excellence, creativity, and performance. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a visionary music strategy aligned with the school’s values and the Cambridge International Curriculum.
  • Design and deliver a rigorous, inclusive music curriculum that inspires students across all year groups.
  • Lead a vibrant programme of co-curricular ensembles, instrumental learning, and high-profile performances.
  • Direct large-scale musical productions, including concerts, recitals, and whole-school events.
  • Nurture emerging musical talent and support students in pursuing external qualifications and elite music pathways.
  • Oversee the management of music resources, facilities, and budgets, ensuring a future-ready programme.
  • Foster collaboration with the Creative Arts faculty and promote interdisciplinary learning.
  • Build partnerships with international music organisations and cultural institutions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Music or Music Education (Master’s preferred).
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in teaching and leading music programmes.
  • Experience directing large-scale performances and ensembles.
  • Familiarity with Cambridge International Curriculum and music examination boards (e.g., ABRSM, Trinity).

Preferred

  • Proficiency in one or more musical instruments and conducting skills.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment.
  • Strong knowledge of music technology and innovative teaching practices.
