The Opportunity:
The Director of Music will lead a dynamic and well-resourced department, shaping an inspiring music curriculum and overseeing a range of performances and events throughout the year. This role offers the opportunity to continue building on the school’s strong reputation in music education and to develop the talents of students across all ability levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the music department, ensuring high-quality music education for all students.
- Deliver engaging and innovative music lessons to students across the school.
- Organise and produce a variety of concerts, including the annual Christmas carol service.
- Collaborate with peripatetic musicians to support and enhance student musical development.
- Foster a culture of musical excellence, confidence, and creativity among students.
- Work closely with other staff to integrate music into the broader school curriculum and ethos.
- Support and develop the skills of music students, including those applying for music scholarships.
- Ensure the school's music programme aligns with its values of academic, pastoral, and co-educational excellence.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as a music teacher and performer, with strong piano skills.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
- Experience in leading a music department and managing a team of staff.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in producing school concerts and events.
- Knowledge of music scholarship processes and requirements.
- Experience in co-educational settings.
- Familiarity with the UK curriculum and senior school admissions processes.
