The Opportunity:
As a Head of Year, you will be responsible for the pastoral care and overall well-being of a group of students, ensuring they are supported, guided, and empowered to reach their full potential. This is a key role in maintaining a positive and inclusive school culture, with a strong focus on student development and academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the pastoral care of a designated group of students, ensuring their well-being and academic progress.
- Coordinate with teachers, support staff, and parents to provide a consistent and supportive environment for students.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote positive behavior, attendance, and student engagement.
- Monitor and support students’ social, emotional, and academic needs, providing timely interventions where necessary.
- Work closely with the senior leadership team to ensure the school’s policies and values are upheld.
- Organize and lead meetings with students, parents, and staff to address concerns and celebrate achievements.
- Support the development of a safe, inclusive, and respectful school environment.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to students, helping them navigate challenges and achieve their goals.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a pastoral or leadership role within an educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take initiative when needed.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Preferred
- Experience in a Head of Year or similar role.
- Training or experience in student welfare, behavior management, or pastoral care.
- Experience working in a school with a strong focus on student development and academic achievement.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
