Director of Pastoral needed to lead and support student wellbeing and discipline at a school.

The Opportunity:

As the Director of Pastoral, you will play a vital role in shaping a positive and inclusive school culture. You will lead the pastoral team, ensuring students feel safe, supported, and motivated to succeed. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage six pastoral managers to ensure consistent and effective student support.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student behaviour, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to contribute to the academy’s improvement plan.
  • Foster a strong sense of community and belonging among students and staff.
  • Support the wellbeing of students through targeted interventions and pastoral care.
  • Monitor and report on key pastoral metrics to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Provide professional development and guidance to the pastoral team.
  • Ensure all pastoral activities align with the school’s values and mission.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a pastoral or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of student behaviour management and support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working within an academy or multi-academy trust.
  • Ability to manage and develop a team effectively.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school setting with a focus on pastoral care.
  • Background in education leadership or senior management.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and student progress.
  • Experience with CPD and staff development.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement frameworks.
