The Opportunity:

As a Lead Practitioner Maths, you will play a key role in shaping the future of mathematics education. You will lead by example, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning, and support staff development to drive continuous improvement in student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to enhance student achievement in mathematics.
  • Lead and support the Maths department in delivering high standards of pedagogy and practice.
  • Collaborate with Curriculum and Assistant Curriculum Leaders to ensure strategic planning and quality assurance.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress to identify areas for improvement and support.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for teaching staff to enhance their practice.
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends and developments in mathematics education.
  • Ensure a proactive response to the needs and priorities of the school and department.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior teaching or leadership role within a school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in mathematics and a commitment to high-quality teaching.
  • Experience in curriculum development and staff training.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and assessment strategies.
  • Experience with educational technology and its integration into teaching.
  • Previous involvement in school improvement initiatives.
