The Opportunity:

As Director of Secondary Education, you will lead and shape the strategic direction for secondary schools across GLF, driving improvement and excellence in education. This role is ideal for a visionary leader looking to make a significant impact on school performance and student outcomes at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a coherent secondary education strategy across multiple schools.
  • Provide line management and leadership support to headteachers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Use data and evidence to drive decision-making and ensure high-quality outcomes for all students.
  • Promote and support high-quality teaching practices across all schools.
  • Collaborate with Trust colleagues to align secondary education strategy with overall Trust goals.
  • Champion inclusion and equity, ensuring all schools reflect the values of Respect, Inclusivity, Integrity, and Kindness.
  • Build leadership capacity and staff development across the secondary phase.
  • Work closely with central and operational teams to ensure schools are well-managed and focused on delivering excellence.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading secondary education across multiple schools.
  • Strong track record in developing strategy and systems leadership.
  • Experience in managing and developing headteachers and school leadership teams.
  • Ability to use data and evidence to drive improvement and challenge effectively.
  • Commitment to inclusion, equity, and the promotion of high-quality teaching.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.

Preferred

  • Experience in multi-academy trust environments or similar structures.
  • Background in cross-phase working and collaboration with primary and secondary teams.
  • Experience in leading curriculum development or inclusion initiatives.
  • Familiarity with contemporary educational research and best practices.
