Summary:

Director of Sixth Form sought to lead and develop a growing Sixth Form in Cambridge.

The Opportunity:

As the Director of Sixth Form, you will lead and develop a vibrant and inclusive Sixth Form community, ensuring that students are well-prepared for life beyond school. This role is central to the school’s strategic vision and offers the opportunity to shape the future of the institution through academic, pastoral, and co-curricular leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the academic and pastoral management of the Sixth Form, ensuring a high standard of teaching and student support.
  • Develop and implement an ambitious annual improvement plan focused on academic excellence and student wellbeing.
  • Lead the strategic development of the Sixth Form, including curriculum design and co-curricular programme delivery.
  • Drive recruitment and retention efforts, ensuring the Sixth Form remains a compelling and aspirational destination for students.
  • Support students with higher education applications and careers guidance, preparing them for future success.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Management Team to align Sixth Form initiatives with the school’s overall vision and goals.
  • Foster a culture of inclusion, innovation, and high achievement across the Sixth Form community.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a diverse team of staff, encouraging professional development and collaboration.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in senior leadership within a school or educational setting.
  • A strong track record of academic excellence and student achievement.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Experience in managing a Sixth Form or similar educational environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and co-curricular programme management.
  • Background in pastoral care and student support.
  • Experience in higher education admissions and careers guidance.
  • Familiarity with multi-academy trusts and school improvement strategies.
