The Opportunity:

The Director of Sport will lead and develop a whole-school Sport for All vision, shaping a dynamic and inclusive sports programme. This role is central to fostering resilience, leadership, and teamwork among students while contributing to the school’s mission of Be You, Belong, Become.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership of the Sport Faculty and ensure alignment with school values
  • Line manage and develop sports staff to foster a collaborative and high-performing culture
  • Lead curriculum development across Key Stages 3–5 with a focus on student engagement and achievement
  • Oversee a broad and inclusive co-curricular sports programme that supports student wellbeing
  • Manage fixtures, inter-school competitions, and specialist sports pathways
  • Develop partnerships with external organisations and facilities to enhance sporting opportunities
  • Ensure high standards of safeguarding, wellbeing, and student experience across all sports activities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting
  • Strong subject knowledge in sport and physical education
  • Excellent teaching and curriculum development skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing

Preferred

  • Experience in managing large-scale sports programmes
  • Background in working with external sports organisations
  • Familiarity with competitive sports pathways and fixtures
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
