The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Drum Kit Teacher to inspire and guide students aged 13-18. This role offers the chance to work within a vibrant and dynamic music department, supporting students in their technical and musical development, and contributing to a wide range of performance and ensemble activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach individual drum kit lessons to pupils across the 13-18 age range.
  • Design and deliver tailored lesson plans to support students’ progress and goals.
  • Encourage and monitor pupils’ practice and report on their development.
  • Prepare students for performances, competitions, exams, and Music College entrance.
  • Support occasional ensemble coaching and orchestral percussion teaching if required.
  • Engage in administrative and reporting procedures in line with departmental requirements.
  • Attend department meetings and complete all necessary training and safeguarding procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience teaching pupils aged 13-18, including advanced students.
  • A relevant diploma, professional music degree, or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrable experience as a drum player and teacher with knowledge of relevant repertoire.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A team player with the ability to work flexibly within a department.

Preferred

  • A teaching qualification.
  • Experience with exam and performance preparation.
  • Flexibility to engage in ensemble and orchestral activities.
