The Opportunity:

As an Early Years Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting young children aged 2 to 4 in a stimulating and safe learning environment. You will work closely with the Early Years team to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, helping children of all abilities reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children in group and independent activities, adapting learning experiences to meet individual needs.
  • Assist in planning and assessing children’s progress in line with EYFS guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with the Room Leader and Early Years team to deliver a high-quality learning environment.
  • Provide regular feedback on pupils’ achievements and development to parents and staff.
  • Support children with special educational needs and ensure their individual requirements are met.
  • Deliver phonics and other early learning activities in a structured and engaging way.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and stimulating environment for children.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and children to build positive relationships.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A Level 3 childcare qualification (or equivalent) and GCSEs in English and Maths.
  • Experience working with young children, including delivering phonics and supporting those with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Calm and patient under pressure.
  • Experience with intimate care and supporting children with diverse needs.

Preferred

  • Experience with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
  • Knowledge of teaching English as a second language.
  • Strong IT skills and the ability to use digital tools in education.
  • Experience in a school or early years setting with a focus on pastoral care.
