The Opportunity:

As the Head of PSHE and Citizenship, you will lead and develop a vital curriculum area that supports student wellbeing and prepares them for life beyond school. This role offers the chance to shape and deliver high-quality Citizenship, PSHE, and RSE across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the PSHE and Citizenship curriculum to meet statutory requirements and support student development.
  • Deliver and quality assure Citizenship, PSHE, and RSE across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the subject, developing robust schemes of learning and driving high-quality teaching.
  • Monitor and support teaching quality across the department.
  • Lead CPD for staff to enhance teaching practice and subject knowledge.
  • Manage the PSHE budget and ensure effective use of resources.
  • Work closely with pastoral, safeguarding, and senior leadership teams to embed British values and diversity across the curriculum.
  • Use research, data, and feedback to inform continuous improvement and curriculum development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in PSHE and Citizenship.
  • Strong subject knowledge and leadership experience.
  • Experience in curriculum development and quality assurance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and pastoral teams.
  • Commitment to student voice, inclusion, and personal development.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading and managing a department or team.
  • Experience with RSE curriculum development.
  • Knowledge of national developments in PSHE and Citizenship education.
  • Experience with data analysis and using feedback to drive improvement.
