The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), helping them engage with learning and develop independence. This role is essential in creating an inclusive, supportive environment where all students can thrive and make meaningful progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in lessons and within the learning hub.
- Assist teachers with lesson planning, assessment, and classroom activities.
- Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a calm, inclusive learning environment.
- Work closely with the Assistant Head of Inclusion/SENCO to deliver targeted support.
- Help pupils build independence and make academic and personal progress.
- Collaborate with the Inclusion team to ensure all students have access to a high-quality education.
- Support small group and individual learning sessions tailored to student needs.
- Contribute to the development of inclusive teaching practices across the school.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to inclusion and student wellbeing.
- Ability to work as part of a team and support teachers in the classroom.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred
- Previous experience in an educational setting, particularly in a school with a focus on inclusion.
- Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and SEND support frameworks.
- Experience with behaviour management and pastoral care.
- Passion for education and making a positive impact on students’ lives.
- Experience in planning and delivering support sessions for individual and small groups.
