The Opportunity:

As an Early Years Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting the development and learning of young children aged 2 to 5 years. You will be responsible for planning, observing, and recording children's progress while ensuring a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the early years of a child's education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a Key-Carer for a small group of children, writing and evaluating observations, planning next steps, and maintaining learning journals.
  • Support and extend children’s learning and development, showing a deep understanding of child development and individual needs.
  • Deliver high-quality care and education to help children reach their full potential.
  • Build strong professional relationships with children, parents, carers, and staff.
  • Work with small groups or individuals to teach through play, covering all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children, maintaining awareness of child protection issues.
  • Set a positive example through professional and caring attitudes.
  • Work 1:1 with children requiring intervention and support.
  • Support children with toileting, personal care, and other daily needs.
  • Liaise with parents and attend to children’s health and safety throughout the day.
  • Support children during lunch, snack times, and extra-curricular activities.
  • Assist with classroom setup and daily routines, including library visits and specialist teacher lessons.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Level 3 or above in Child Development or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and child development.
  • Knowledge of health and safety protocols.
  • Previous experience working with children aged 2 to 5 years.
  • Excellent communication skills with both adults and children.
  • Ability to manage positive behaviour in line with age-appropriate expectations.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • A caring and flexible approach to working.
  • Experience using online learning journals.
  • Current paediatric first aid certificate.
  • Knowledge of EAL and SEN support.
  • Familiarity with childhood games and activities.
  • Good ICT and Interactive White Board skills.
  • Understanding of different pedagogies and their practical application.
