The Opportunity:
As an Early Years Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting the development and learning of young children aged 2 to 5 years. You will be responsible for planning, observing, and recording children's progress while ensuring a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the early years of a child's education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be a Key-Carer for a small group of children, writing and evaluating observations, planning next steps, and maintaining learning journals.
- Support and extend children’s learning and development, showing a deep understanding of child development and individual needs.
- Deliver high-quality care and education to help children reach their full potential.
- Build strong professional relationships with children, parents, carers, and staff.
- Work with small groups or individuals to teach through play, covering all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children, maintaining awareness of child protection issues.
- Set a positive example through professional and caring attitudes.
- Work 1:1 with children requiring intervention and support.
- Support children with toileting, personal care, and other daily needs.
- Liaise with parents and attend to children’s health and safety throughout the day.
- Support children during lunch, snack times, and extra-curricular activities.
- Assist with classroom setup and daily routines, including library visits and specialist teacher lessons.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Level 3 or above in Child Development or equivalent qualification.
- Strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and child development.
- Knowledge of health and safety protocols.
- Previous experience working with children aged 2 to 5 years.
- Excellent communication skills with both adults and children.
- Ability to manage positive behaviour in line with age-appropriate expectations.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- A caring and flexible approach to working.
- Experience using online learning journals.
- Current paediatric first aid certificate.
- Knowledge of EAL and SEN support.
- Familiarity with childhood games and activities.
- Good ICT and Interactive White Board skills.
- Understanding of different pedagogies and their practical application.
