Play Assistant role for children aged 2–7. Support learning and development with a focus on care and creativity.

The Opportunity:

As a Play Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and stimulating environment for children aged 2–7. You will support their learning and development through creative and age-appropriate activities, while maintaining a strong focus on care, safety, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in providing high-quality play experiences that support children’s learning and development.
  • Ensure children are always supervised and that adult-child ratios are maintained.
  • Support children with toileting, nappy changes, and potty training.
  • Encourage good table manners and support children during meal times.
  • Develop and model social skills through positive interactions.
  • Administer first aid and follow procedures for managing illness.
  • Liaise with staff and teachers to ensure a cohesive approach to child care.
  • Report any concerns about children to the appropriate staff members.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times and adhere to school policies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Level 3 or above Childcare qualification.
  • Current paediatric first aid certificate.
  • Experience working with children and a caring, flexible approach.
  • Ability to engage and encourage children of all abilities.
  • Knowledge of children's games and activities.

Preferred

  • Knowledge and understanding of EAL and SEN.
  • Understanding of different pedagogies and how to apply them in practice.
