Education Welfare Officer needed to support attendance strategies and student engagement.

The Opportunity:

As an Education Welfare Officer, you will play a key role in improving student attendance and engagement through targeted family support and statutory intervention. This position is ideal for someone passionate about education and committed to removing barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and deliver the Trust’s attendance strategies to improve student engagement and attendance levels.
  • Provide targeted support to families of persistent and severely absent pupils through casework and intervention.
  • Work closely with school leaders to develop and implement effective attendance improvement plans.
  • Ensure all actions are carried out with a "Safeguarding First" approach and in line with the Trust’s values.
  • Monitor and report on attendance data to identify trends and inform future strategies.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and support services to address complex cases.
  • Deliver training and guidance to school staff on attendance-related policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with statutory requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in education welfare or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with families and school staff.
  • Knowledge of statutory duties and responsibilities related to school attendance and welfare.
  • Experience in managing and delivering attendance improvement strategies.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection principles.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
  • Familiarity with the principles of Unconditional Positive Regard and inclusive education practices.
  • Experience with casework and statutory intervention processes.
  • Background in education or social care.
