The Opportunity:

As an Elementary EAL Teacher, you will play a key role in supporting young learners in developing their English language proficiency. Using the Sheltered Immersion Model and data-driven instruction, you will collaborate with homeroom teachers to create an inclusive and impactful learning experience for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-teach, co-plan, and co-assess with homeroom teachers to support student learning
  • Implement the Sheltered Immersion Model and use data-driven instruction to scaffold learning
  • Monitor and assess student progress using the WIDA framework
  • Advocate for multilingualism and support a culture of respect for all languages
  • Collaborate with counselors, administration, and other staff to support student well-being
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners
  • Engage in professional development to ensure alignment with current educational research
  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to support student learning and well-being

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Valid teaching license or certification
  • Valid EAL certification (e.g., TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or equivalent)
  • Experience teaching English Language Learners
  • Experience using data to inform instruction through a Professional Learning Community (PLC)
  • Strong understanding of the Sheltered Immersion Model
  • Experience assessing language proficiency using WIDA data
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and use translanguaging strategies

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Experience with MTSS/RTI frameworks, particularly in supporting Tier 2 interventions
  • Experience with inquiry-based teaching and learning
  • Experience with international curricula such as the IB
