The Opportunity:

As an Engineering Assessor - Welding, you will play a key role in supporting apprentices as they develop their skills and achieve their qualifications. You will work closely with students and employers to ensure quality learning outcomes and compliance with industry standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong welding expertise and a passion for education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of apprentices, providing guidance and support throughout their training programme.
  • Conduct assessments and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver high-quality learning experiences that enable apprentices to achieve their full potential.
  • Collaborate with employers to tailor learning plans and provide relevant workplace visits.
  • Provide meaningful feedback to apprentices and employers to drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all documentation is up to date.
  • Engage with students and colleagues in a professional and supportive manner.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of training programmes aligned with industry needs.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • NVQ Level 3 in welding or completion of a Level 3 apprenticeship in welding.
  • Assessor’s Award (A1)/TAQA qualification.
  • Minimum of three years of recent, hands-on industry experience in welding.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and professional standards.

Preferred

  • Experience in a teaching or assessing role within further education.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Knowledge of welding industry standards and regulations.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programmes.
