The Opportunity:

As an Engineering Skills Coach Apprentice, you will support learners through hands-on training, assessing, and quality assurance of work-based learning programs. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer looking to develop their skills in assessment and coaching while making a meaningful impact on learners' futures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality training and support to learners in line with the school’s Apprenticeship Strategy.
  • Assess and verify learners’ progress through practical and theoretical evaluations.
  • Ensure all work-based learning programs meet industry standards and employer expectations.
  • Support learners in developing the skills needed for sustained employment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to enhance the learning experience.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to learner progress and assessments.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and developments in engineering education.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to learners to help them achieve their full potential.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering.
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical engineering, including traditional and CNC machining.
  • Strong understanding of inspection and quality control processes.
  • Literacy and numeracy skills to at least Level 2.
  • Enthusiasm, resilience, and a high level of motivation.

Preferred

  • Experience in a technical support role using IT systems.
  • Previous experience as an Engineering Assessor or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of assessment qualifications such as A1, TAQA, and D32.
  • Experience in delivering training through a range of methodologies.
