The Opportunity:

As an English Lecturer, you will play a vital role in delivering GCSE and Functional Skills English to a variety of learners, from 16–18-year-olds to adult learners. You will inspire achievement and support learners in reaching their full potential through engaging and inclusive teaching methods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning in GCSE English Language and Functional Skills English (Entry 3 – Level 1).
  • Personalise teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of learners using a range of teaching methods and technologies.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and progression.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practice and support a team-focused culture.
  • Complete administrative tasks including lesson planning, assessment, tracking learner progress, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Ensure full compliance with college policies and quality assurance processes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in teaching GCSE and Functional Skills English.
  • Strong knowledge of English curriculum and assessment standards.
  • Ability to create engaging and inclusive lesson plans.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching 16–18-year-old learners and adult learners.
  • Familiarity with learning technologies and digital resources.
  • Experience in developing and delivering inclusive learning strategies.
  • Experience with teaching English as a second language (ESOL) or similar subjects.
