The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate English Lecturer to teach GCSE English to adult learners. This is a small, focused evening role, ideal for those looking to make a meaningful impact while balancing other commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality GCSE and Functional Skills English lessons to adult students
  • Motivate and engage students with inspiring teaching methods and materials
  • Work independently and demonstrate excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Teach mixed-level classes and adapt lessons to meet diverse learning needs
  • Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with relevant parties
  • Develop and implement schemes of work and course materials
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of curriculum specifications and teaching standards
  • Support the growth and development of the school’s provision

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant teaching qualification such as DTLLS, PCET, PGCE or QCF Level 5 Diploma in Education
  • Experience teaching GCSE or Functional Skills English
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Recent experience in the Further Education Sector
  • Commitment to continuous professional development

Preferred

  • Experience in adult education or teaching students from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated success in developing innovative and creative teaching methods
  • Experience in writing and delivering schemes of work
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment
