The Opportunity:
As a Maths Lecturer, you will help adult learners build confidence and succeed in maths, whether for work, apprenticeships, or everyday life. This is a small, focused evening teaching role, ideal for experienced teachers or those looking to balance teaching with other commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality Functional Skills Maths lessons to adult students
- Motivate students and create an engaging and supportive learning environment
- Work independently and manage your own teaching schedule
- Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with relevant parties
- Teach mixed level classes with adaptability and enthusiasm
- Develop and deliver innovative teaching materials and schemes of work
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Functional Skills specifications and curriculum delivery
- Support students in achieving their goals through effective teaching and pastoral care
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., DTLLS, PCET, PGCE or QCF Level 5 Diploma in Education)
- Experience in delivering Functional Skills Maths to adult learners
- Recent experience in the Further Education Sector
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Commitment to continuous professional development
Preferred
- Experience in developing and writing schemes of work
- Experience in growing provisions and expanding teaching programs
- Demonstrated success in helping students from diverse backgrounds
- Confidence in using innovative and creative teaching methods
