The Opportunity:

As a Maths Lecturer, you will help adult learners build confidence and succeed in maths, whether for work, apprenticeships, or everyday life. This is a small, focused evening teaching role, ideal for experienced teachers or those looking to balance teaching with other commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Functional Skills Maths lessons to adult students
  • Motivate students and create an engaging and supportive learning environment
  • Work independently and manage your own teaching schedule
  • Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with relevant parties
  • Teach mixed level classes with adaptability and enthusiasm
  • Develop and deliver innovative teaching materials and schemes of work
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Functional Skills specifications and curriculum delivery
  • Support students in achieving their goals through effective teaching and pastoral care

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., DTLLS, PCET, PGCE or QCF Level 5 Diploma in Education)
  • Experience in delivering Functional Skills Maths to adult learners
  • Recent experience in the Further Education Sector
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
  • Commitment to continuous professional development

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and writing schemes of work
  • Experience in growing provisions and expanding teaching programs
  • Demonstrated success in helping students from diverse backgrounds
  • Confidence in using innovative and creative teaching methods
