The Opportunity:

A school is seeking an English Teacher for a fixed term contract, starting in September 2026, with the potential for a permanent position. The role involves teaching students from Year 7 to Year 11, with the possibility of teaching A level. The successful candidate will be expected to make a real difference in the lives of students while upholding the school’s high standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach English to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach A level.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring exceptional progress and academic achievement.
  • Uphold and promote the school’s ethos of high expectations and strong academic standards.
  • Support students in developing key skills in communication, critical thinking, and creativity.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and contribute to the school’s vibrant and diverse community.

  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to students as required.
  • Engage in professional development and continuous improvement of teaching practice.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A good, relevant degree and a PGCE qualification.
  • Experience in teaching English at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Commitment to the school’s ethos and values.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching A level English.
  • Experience in working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to extracurricular activities.
  • Experience in supporting newly qualified teachers.
